Subject: [LouisvillianshelpingsaveDarfur] Darfur news

Below is a recent message from Bob
Brousseau of the Kentuckiana Interfaith Taskforce on Darfur who just returned
from a summit of Darfur activists in Washington,

Three quick

1. Tomorrow, the
President of the Save Darfur Coalition is speaking before the Committee on Financial Services in
the United States House of Representatives on "Negative Implications of the
President’s Signing Statement on the Sudan Accountability and Divestment
Act" at 10 in the morning.
Here is the
It will be live at

I have attached his
prepared statements as well.

Note in his attached
statements, which I have excerpted here, this important passage:

to the bill appeared, that challenge was overcome by overwhelming popular
support, including

Washington this past weekend, speaking with the head of Save Darfur, STAND, and
the Genocide Intervention Network, they all made a point to commend our

attendees.  It was a moment we should be very proud of!  I walked away

are doing as much as many larger cities.

3. We are
gearing up for a series of events and initiatives (primarily state divestment)
this spring.  If anyone wants to have input, we
are tentatively looking at the second week of April to coincide with
national events.  Your help is needed and appreciated.  Feel free to
contact me or Dr. Dave Robinson.  More to follow…

Lastly, I know the
news coming from Chad isn’t good, but let’s not be discouraged.  The
speaker from our August ’07 event, Dr. Brahma, has been safely evacuated and the
UN efforts in Sudan may have turned a corner.  Keep your fingers

Thanks again for
your interest and support,
